Based in Marseille, choreographer and visual artist Eric Minh Cuong Castaing is Associate Artist at the Center dramatique national La Comédie de Valence (2020-2024), following his mission as Associate Artist at the Ballet National de Marseille (2016-2019).
Born in Seine-Saint-Denis (93), graduate of the Gobelins at the image school in Paris, Eric M.C.C. develops within the Shonen company, which he founded in 2007, projects associating the body in movement and the image, by the use of new technologies envisaged as new structures of perception. His projects, which he calls «in socius», take shape within societal realities, in partnership with institutions outside the art world (research laboratories, schools, hospitals, NGOs ...)
Eric M.C.C. thus explores the relational modes of bodies and their representations in the digital age, questioning the dualities of art / society, reality / fiction, nature / culture, organic / artificial.
His transdisciplinary practice has given rise to the production of choreographic pieces, films, installations and performances, associating professional and amateur dancers, broadcast in France and internationally in places dedicated to the visual arts (Palais de Tokyo, Center Pompidou, Friche Belle de Mai, Frac PACA, Schunk Museum ...) and performing arts (CND Paris, Centquatre Paris, MAC Créteil, Charleroi danse, Vooruit Gent, tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf, Tanzquartier Vienne ...)
