 " VIBRATION OF MARGINS "

Parallèle, seventh edition, invites you to discover the work of artists of the new generation, coming from various geographic and artistic horizons: Greece, Lebanon, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Syria, the Netherlands, France, England, Latvia.

Because it is crucial to consider our relationships with other people in a sensitive way — because a poetic reading of the real and the creation of shared memories are powerful means to create new perspectives —

because we have to fight the underlying and deathly wish to define everything and everyone according to a sex, nationality, origin, situation, simplified identity —

because a culture emphasizing multiplicity and complexity of the world is not a luxury, but a pressing necessity —

with doors wide open, everything will be brought into play, into gestures and words by a generation that continuously reinvents their language, their ways of creating, their resources and their ways of sharing.

It will not be accident-free or stable, there will be movement and meetings. An ode to life as it happens unexpectedly, to this "untameable vitality", this vibration of the margins: street bodies, displaced bodies, men and women!– who face adversity and dominating injunction, happy solitudes too, invisible and short-lived communities, a liberating escape, a vital energy.

All of this will be activated and shared in the programme itself, just like in workshops, "critical eyes" exercises for students, professional meetings, public think tanks, collective projects...

So we will do this with you, if you want to; wherever you come from, you will be welcome!

Once again, we'd like to thank the artists: those supported all year long, with whom we keep a faithful relationship, and those we invite simply and with as much enthusiasm to show their work.

Thanks to the partners of the festival, who give us strength: Les Théâtres, Le Merlan, Montévidéo, La Criée, le Mucem, Art-Cade, La Cité, Maupetit, côté Galerie, l'ERAC and l'IMMS, Le Théâtre de l'Oeuvre, la Faculté de droit et de science politique, Aix-Marseille Université, La Compagnie, le Lycée Thiers, and L'Officina, as allied programmers.

Everyday we will meet at Montévidéo, friendly venue of the festival, where artists and viewers can meet in the afternoon and most of the performance nights. At the heart of the programme, there and everyday, we will lay the experiences we have had in front of the raging sea of Voldemārs Johansons, untameable nature.

Every year, we carry out Parallèle and the support of artists thanks to the funding of Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Conseil Départemental des Bouches-du-Rhône and the City of Marseille. We'd like to thank them for their renewed trust.

Lou Colombani manager of komm’n’act and festival Parallèle
