Dance

République Zombie questions the paralysis of our time, our world, our actions, and thus the strategies we develop to awaken them.

This new choreographic and musical creation explores a “zombie state” of bodies, voices, time and space, broken by sound dances that would be like a warning or a jolt.

Born in Haiti and shaped by colonialism, the zombie figure is dual, both grotesque and terrifying, both master and slave. In our minds, these mythical creatures are the symptom of our anxieties, they are also a numbed body, that creates a form of organised chaos inside and outside itself. Zombies are left to fend for themselves, it is a spiritless creature, whose slow pace keeps gaining ground. Its body is dissociated and alienated, its disease is a dance.
